I am simulating external flow over a porous medium in Ansys CFX.
I introduced drag coefficient as an expression. The problem is when I monitor the drag coefficient (in the solution), the value shown in the user point is different from the one which is calculated in the results section (calculating expression). That's very strange since I monitor the same expression. Any ideas?
May be you must to check the reference values in some place in the CFD code. If it is simmilar to Fluent, there is a Table that you must to fill with some reference values in order to compute non-dimensional coeffients or other reference parameters, e.g., lift/drag coeff (.e.g., reference length, areas, velocities, etc...). I also believe there should be a problem with the reference values , but I have no idea where I can find the reference values in CFX?!
For Fluent there is a menu where you can define these values (the name is report|reference values), I think that there is a similar place in CFX. because now both softs (Fluent and CFX share the same environment (Ansys). Check the user's manual may be you can obtain some answer here.
