why most people use chitosan tpp instead of alginat-cacl2 as a nanoencapsulation?
Formed easily due to interaction between the negatively charged groups of TPP and the positively charged amino groups of chitosan (Calvo et al., 1997).
Chitosan as well as alginate nanoparticals are formed by the similar principles e.g cross-linking. both the nanoparticles can be used as bioadhesive nanomedicines but chitosan nanoparticles are more preferred because chitosan nanoparticles are more stable as compare to alginate nanoparticles as moisture and temperature fluctuations affects in the later case. Secondly chitosan is soluble at acidic pH and as we know in most micro-enviornment of the diseases state the there is the low pH including cancers and inflammations which help it to release more drug at targets sites.
There are multiple advantages of Chitosan tripolyphosphate over alginate CacCl2 sytem:
- Size can easily tuned by changing NaCl concentration.
- gelation is very fast in alginate-cacl2 system, which might not be suitable for drug encapsulation.
