Sibelius and Finale are the two big names in commercial music engraving. Sibelius has a lite version (Sibelius First) and a 30 day trial, Finale has a free version called Finale Notepad. You could also try MuseScore which is open source. Engraving isn't something I do professionally any more, so I can't really comment on how flexible the software is, but I do know contemporary music composers using both Sibelius and Finale for customised works. 

Thanks for your replies! I know Sibelius and Finale quite well and use them for different purposes but for presenting a musical analysis iAnalyse seems much better suited. Unfortunately, there is no Windows equivalent. Or do you know one?

No, iAnalyse is available only for Mac OS. Pierre Couprie is a musicologist, a music theorist and a composer, not really an engineer, and I think he does not have the energy, nor the interest, to develop a Windows version.

This said, a further answer to your question would depend on what kind of analysis you perform. There's a lot one can do with PowerPoing. I use Finale for things like Schenkerian analysis -- just some effort with layers and the special tools menu and it's pretty straightforward once you get used to it. 

When it comes to group theory / transformation networks (e.g., David Lewin,  Dmitri Tymoczko) I unfortunately have no easy answer (if anyone else does, I would appreciate it!).

But I'm primarily adding my voice to the mix here to recommend AudioSculpt for Fast Fourier Analysis, among other things -- IRCAM has a lot of wonderful software for understanding music in spectral terms.

This is a powerpoint animation transformed in HTML5 by the free version of iSpring. Click on the "loudspeaker" icon to start the animation; there also is an icon in the bottom right corner for viewing full screen (but with some loss of sharpness).

The Schenkerian graph has been produced partly with Finale, partly with Photoshop.

This is very good for presenting finished analyses. But if you want to explain the generation process of that final one, PowerPoint slides are still the best option...

Ich benutze am liebsten SIBELIUS Music Software, für Notendruck, Sound etc. Man kann damit eigentlich alles machen, auch an elektronische Musikinstrumente anschließen usw. Es gibt mehrere Versionen.
