Hello everyone,

I am trying to perform an Adjoint Design Sensitivity Analysis in Abaqus, particularly a Topology Sensitivity one.

I want to find the derivative of the stress with respect to the density, element by element.

The Abaqus guide says that I must use scaling factors (for Mass, Stress, and Stiffness) since relative density is used in topology optimization (density which spaces between 0 and 1), by the definition of a table, which sets the scaling factors (of the value and his derivative) for every element.

What are those scaling factors? Why have I to set them? How can I scale stress before running an optimization?

Thanks.
