What would you say are the most relevant features that makes difficult to synthesized group IV nanoparticles?

synthesis, especially colloidal, of group IV nanoparticle like Ge and Si hasn't be fully pursued like for other binary or ternary semiconductors. Why do you think is more difficult with these materials?

Simply the redox potential is high making reduction to the element difficult. There's a small number of possible precursors, many of which may be toxic.
