You might want to look at the Start-up Chile program. This was, and still is run by Government (it started in 2008 or so) The programt is that successful that over 50 other countries adopted it. The delivery of this program is through a partnership with the public but also many private organizations, universities, incubators, etc. This is a full-scale example. I am assuming that you are asking about a private company running just one of few entrepreneurship programs within the country. There are many of these companies out there, but they are part of the larger system. The effectiveness will to a large extent depend on how these programs are managed. As well as there can very well run government-owned entrepreneurship programs, there are many private ones that don't perform so well.

a well-balanced reply. I am asking about a private company running start-up chile, in essence. to use your example. but you point that (as the exception perhaps), government can also manage a country's entrepreneurship program is taken.

i am not asking about multiple private entrepreneurship programs in a country, as that would be similar to a very uncoordinated government program. you refer to their management - i am referring to a private company doing just that: managing them (instead of government doing it, or trying to).

i would agree with your point that well run government programs can exist. but if you consider these and their shortcomings, even the possible shortcomings of startup chile, the question is whether a private company that does the overall management would not be able to overcome these shortcomings and thus do a better job.

I have no real expertise in this particular matter, but here in the UK we've lived with private companies running most public programmes for decades now. I know particularly about un/employment policy, which has some link to entrepreneurship. It's was a disaster when I looked at it. Crappy programmes provided at great expense by money grubbing enterprises. The odd young person killing themselves as a consequence. Not very uplifting. Private companies can act in management of innovative enterprises or in Research & Technology management. In Brazil, the states have public organizations for this purpose, but in one of them, this organization is private, and has excellent performance. New laws in the country are aligned with increased private sector participation in R & D management.

No doubt Roberto, but it always is a risk. You have to wait for the results. As the British say, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating."

that might actually be a problem - to wait for the results. entrepreneurship lacks leadership, and to wait for results implies reactive leadership.
