We normally work with permanent markers and are quite happy with it. They are not all of the same quality. Unfortunately, I can't remember which ones we are using. If I come across the brand, I'll post a link.

These cryogenic labels can be applied even on -80ºC surfaces and then stored back in laboratory freezers or liquid nitrogen to preserve the integrity of the sample. It is recommended that CryoSTUCK® labels are applied with an overlap of at least 0.25” to ensure proper adherence to the frozen surface.
