Mixing of two different base metals 6061-T6 and AZ31 in same quantity by some thermo-mechanical processing.
Dear Prof.
The metals I am using for this test is AA6061 and AZ31 Mg alloy solid plates. For mixing friction stir processing is done which might be homogeneous and in semi solid state. I know the properties of base metals AA6061 and AZ31.
Generally the thermophysical properties after mixing is decreased when experiment is performed. But I am not getting the point why this things happen?

Let me come to the point: it is very probable that the mixture consists of domains of one phase mixed with domains of the other phase: molecular mixing really should come spontaneously. You may want to use microscopic techniques to find out. If what I think is true, the excess thermodynamic quantities of the mixture will strongly depend on domain size. The smaller the domains, the less their effect compared to molecular mixing.
As an afterthought: it is not impossible that your base materials already are domain structured which calls for their investigation as well.

Powder-sintered alloys can be porous, to some extent. According to my observations there might be two main reason - first, mixing of two different metals which obstruct the movement of free electrons. Second, due to thermomechanical action number of grain boundaries and porosity will be increasing which reduces the thermophysical properties of Mixzone, because each grain boundaries and impurity acts as a scattering center for free electrons so movement of electron get obstructed during mixing. Please comment regarding these conclusion.
