For example if we make a composite of SnO2 and ZnO. Than whats about the absorption band edge and bandgap of their heterostructure. Is it necessary that the absorption band edge of the heterostructure will lie between these two materials absorption band edge.

i think, in hetrostructure both material will shows its own band gap, in absorption spectra you will get two peaks of absorption related to your both materils ... if deffusion process heppend in your hetrostructure, then may be you will get a band gap inbetween two mterials. it also related to your film thickness. i think you shoud measure absorption and reflection spectroscopy .....

You can measure both transmittance,T and Reflectance, R for your material and use
Tauc relation to calculate the absorption band edge or band gap of your material.(homo or hetrojunction), the method is described through the attached paper.
