I need to calculate tensile properties of aluminium cast alloy (FSW) samples with following dimensions,
GL= 10mm....(40mm total length)
Width = 3 mm...
In order to study the joint properties throughout the depth of welded plates, what is the maximum thickness I can keep and what w/t ratio usually need to maintain.

in ASTM E8 PP.3, NOTE 5
NOTE 5—The dimension T is the thickness of the test specimen as provided for in the applicable material specifications. Minimum thickness of 40 mm
[1.500 in.] wide specimens shall be 5 mm [0.188 in.]. Maximum thickness of 12.5 and 6 mm [0.500 and 0.250 in.] wide specimens shall be 19 and 6
mm [0.750 and 0.250 in.], respectively.
