Which were the ideas, theories, or insights that significantly changed the way we thought about wildlife and environmental conservation? And did they originate in conservation science (for example, as a first in a scientific paper), or in conservation practice (subsequently to be popularized, discussed, and refined in conservation science)? I would like to better understand what conservation science has contributed to conservation practice. As a practical guide to conservation practitioners it appears to be pretty useless (see attached). But maybe conservation science is good at shifting paradigms by exposing past flawed thinking, i.e. big new ideas. Are there any good examples though?
