As part of their undergraduate curriculum, I have medical students willing to join our clinical medical research.
They are assigned in 5-6 members groups, and all hope to be included in the authorship of the research paper.

It really depends heavily on the following factors:
1. What are the research topics being researched at your institution.
2. Which of the research projects which the principal investigator will allow a medical to work on.
3. Whether the medical student is interested in the topic.
4. If the medical student be a help or hinderance to the research team

Three main areas of medical research can be distinguished by study type: basic (experimental), clinical, and epidemiological research. Furthermore, clinical and epidemiological studies can be further subclassified as either interventional or noninterventional. But to the best of my knowledge Clinical research will improve the student but funding will be an issue, so the basic will be good if funding is an issue.
