Filter cartridges with an additional wrap consisting of polymer and desiccants can be used for separation. These filters are specifically designed to remove water by absorption and remove both emulsified and free water. It should be noted that these sort of filters have a limited volume capacity.
The capsules are 1-5 microns in diameter. I have tried solvents, and one is promising due to its polarity, but the microcapsules still don't pack down efficiently after centrifugation. Changing the density isn't enough for these microcapsules for some reason. I used hexane, something mush less dense water, but it doesn't break the necessary interactions in the emulsion.
