Hee Jun - what's the ambient humidity in your lab? Depending on your weather patterns, HVAC supply, and whether or not you're setting up the electrospinning system in a hood, dehumidification may or may not be feasible.

Every electrospinning system is different. But I know a lot of people that make do with just their normal lab conditions. If it really poses a problem, and you have the money to spend, you can look into an automated electrospinning setup or try to find somewhere with controlled environmental conditions (e.g. a cleanroom).

It is important to use a high-watt powered dehumidifier that can consistently affect the ambience of a chamber. The system of course needs to be closed as in the chamber needs to be sealed but with an inlet orifice to place the dehumidifier. You should also have and outlet with an exhaust fan on chamber to ventilate the solvents out. Additionally, you may need a temperature and humidity sensor inside the chamber to monitor the RH and temperature. The temperature value should be noted to as this parameter could be affected by the dehumidifier. For an alternative, you can consider advanced electrospinning machines that have dehumidifying components with exhaust fans and ambience sensors for easier installation.

The humidity in our lab greatly fluctuates, and is really high in the summer months. We use a desiccant type of dehumidifier and it does a really good job of getting levels at or below 30% RH. Ours was an industrial unit that costs $900USD but we are actively trying inexpensive alternatives. We also coupled it with a RH sensor and Raspberry Pi system that would turn it on and off as needed within our chamber.
