We are looking for any simple cost efficient chemicals to be mixed in a tissue sample collection buffer.
Once clinical tissue sampling is done, this chemical should disintegrate the tissue mildly by the time it reaches us (2-5 days)
How efficient are chemicals like thymol; Methyl salicilate.
Any others which donot interfere with DNA/RNA quality.
If your only interest is in preserving nucleic acids, homogenize the tissue in Trizol reagent.

But I guess my question was not made clear. we wish to develop a buffer which can be used to transport clinical tissue samples for molecular testing. To make tissue digestion easy, we wish to use any chemicals in the buffer which can disintegrate the tissue by the time it reaches from collection place to us.
Trizol/phenol/chlorofom are used for extraction procedures but if we use them in buffer to store and transport the tissue, i guess the chemicals would loose half life. Have any one of u tried sending tissue samples using the above chemicals and where the tissue is later used for DNA/RNA isolations?
Yes, this can be done with Trizol. It would be wise to freeze the samples for shipping and storage after adding the Trizol, however. Here is a note from the Trizol reagent user guide from Thermo-Fisher:
STOPPING POINT
Samples can be stored at 4°C overnight or at –20°C for up to a year [following addition of Trizol].
