Hello All,

I am currently modeling a solenoid on Matlab. I have evaluated the inductance of the solenoid based on its geometrical configuration using the formula,

L = mu0*n^2*V

where, mu0 = permeability of free-space

n = number of turns / unit length

V = Volume of the solenoid (length*area)

The plunger of the solenoid translates by 3 mm when power is supplied.

Can you please comment on the method that is to be followed to evaluate the inductance values in steps of say 0.5 mm, since inductance varies in accordance with the air gap of 3 mm.

I plan to use a look up table in simulink and evaluate the value of inductance corresponding to the Position of the plunger between 0 and 3 mm in steps of 0.5 mm.

Thank you and I look forward for a feedback.

Best Regards,
