Clostridium perfringens that carries toxin plasmids causes intestinal infections enterotoxamia, does anyone know how this C. perfringens maintain the Plasmids? What triggers the toxin production?
There are several complex factors that may attribute to C. perfringens toxin production, such as environment, type of strain, etc. and many of those factors associated with pathogenesis have not been clearly elucidated yet. However, germination appears to be an important step into toxin proliferation in C. perfringens.
