I will only say based on my microbiology laboratory experience on working with anaerobic waste degradation process (not medical), and I can say it depends on your project's purpose. If your research project needs the colony to be intact in the plate, for example you want to count the total colonies, then sure it is important to redo it again in a new plate.
But if you just trying to cultivate the microorganisms and you want to put your colonies in microscope, then it's okay no need for renewing the plate. Because the ultimate purpose is just to take a very few number of colonies and then observe them.
