Recently, I read some papers about EELS/STEM.

In these articles, the term of "channelling" occurred repeatedly, such as "channelling effect", " channelling contrast" and so on.

For contrast, I know there are mass/thickness contrast, diffraction contrast and phase contrast. However, in the book titled "Transmission electron microscopy: a textbook for materials science", I have not found any information about this "channelling".

So what is the exact meaning of “channelling“ ?

Any textbooks can be recommanded to read ?

Thanks
