Obviously, whether teachers believe they have an impact on the lives of their students is linked to their own self-esteem and their own sense of competence. When people believe that what they are doing is of little consequence, their motivation and energy will be minimal, and they cannot help but convey this to others. When those others are students, what will result is a school environment devoid of excitement and learning and filled with boredom and perhaps anger.
Students need to feel that there is someone within school whom they know, to whom they can turn, and who will act as an advocate for them.
Some experiences say that teachers who help students improve noncognitive skills, such as self-regulation, raise the grade and likelihood of graduation more than the teachers who help them improve the standardized tests achieved.
Expert teachers do differ from experienced teachers – mainly on the way they represent their classrooms, the degree of challenges that they present to students and the majority critically, in the depth of processing that their students attain. A good teacher should make learning fun by motivating and engaging lessons which are essential to a student’s academic achievement. Several students who are further prone to misconduct, truancy or disengagement are further dependent on an engaging teacher. Creating a good classroom environment for learning will hold the students’ fascination, and of course, the students learn actively whilst they are both challenged and interested.
