Hi,
I am trying to model two blocks on top of each other in Abaqus. The bottom block is fixed. There is friction between the blocks. Besides the gravity, both blocks are under equal distributed load from one of their sides. I am wondering what type of boundary conditions and interaction should I define to simulate the problem properly?

Thank you for your response. It represents the wall but top part is not fixed. I am having problem is specifying the contact condition in Abaqus. The goal is to investigate the bonding between the layers and stress distribution in different bonding mechanisms. I have fixed the nodes on the bottom brick and defined a frictional surface to surface contact between the layers. I define the load on the wall so little that it's no gonna slip based on my hand calculations but the job gets aborted all the time. Here is what I have :
1. BC, Encastre on the bottom surface of the bottom brick
2. Load distributed load on both bricks ( So little )
3. Frictional surface to surface contact. The bottom top surface of the bottom brick is master and the bottom surface of the top brick is slave.
4. I have 3 Steps . 1. Initial 2, contact 3. Apply load
This is the errors and warning that I get
Warning :
Displacement increment for contact is too big.
Displacement increment for contact is too big.
Displacement increment for contact is too big.
Displacement increment for contact is too big.
Displacement increment for contact is too big.
Errors :
Too many attempts made for this increment
Abaqus/Standard Analysis exited with an error - Please see the message file for possible error messages if the file exists.
Got it thank you. Just to confirm, Should a frictional surface to surface interaction is enough for the simulation. I want to make sure I am not missing any thing.

If you have solved the problem with Abacus, I suggest to compare your results with the experimental investigation recently carried out on a stack of two dry-jointed tuff blocks subjected to different loading conditions.
