While designing the personalized mobile search engine, if we use explicit profile of the user then what should be the required categories?
The question is somehow very broad. I surely suggest you to take into consideration contextual factors that characterise the HCI through mobile devices. Where are you? What time is it? Current weather? Am I driving? Current traffic report? Are all data that are easily identifiable by sensing the mobile device sensor or through online APIs. While it is not strictly explicit data (that is, data directly submitted by the user), you can use that for building complex profiles of user interests (e.g., preferred transportation mean, preferred Point of interests). At this point, you have a better idea for the category of interests to represent in your domain. Categories are indeed very domain-dependent, so the topics of interests of your personalised engine can help you out defining what you should include in your taxonomy.
