Hello Guys, I need an optical imaging method/Microscopy to image the 20 nm width plasmonic nanowire whose length is 120 nm. I know the near field optical microscopy is the best choice in this regard. I wonder if there are other far field super resolution microscopic methods??

what will be the source of contrast in your optical microscopy imaging of the nanowires? Will they be fluorescent? I know plasmonic nanowires are used to enhance fluorescence of fluorophores on their surface but are not necessarily fluorescent on their own. If you can make them fluorescent, then depends if you just want to see them (in the sense are they there or not) or you want to observe their actual dimensions. Any fluorescent microscope would do for the former, single molecule localization microscopies such as dSTORM ( Article Direct Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (dSTORM)
) can reach the resolution provided they would work on the nanowire. STORM relies on fluorophore blinking which is induced by high excitation intensities and appropriate redox conditions. The question for which I don't know the answer is whether the fluorescence enhancement on the nanowire surface would not interfere with the fluorophore blinking characteristics.- Badges
