An interesting question and I'm looking forward to interesting answers. North Africa seems to have enjoyed a specific culture under Roman Rule and produced the only Roman novel known or which survived. It produced a specific Christianity preserved by Tertullian, which I suggest deeply influenced Islam. Veils were common amongst the Christian groups and these ancient Christians were little different to later Islamic societies.
Sorting out what influences came from Rome and what from Jewish and Donatist North African societies is difficult. The growth of martyrdom in North Africa was a side project or product of Roman rule.
