I am researching about Islam and disability. How do Islamic values explain disability, both legally and aspects of social life with disabilities? I'm looking for reading resources to answer the problem.
I don't know books for Islamic law but i would recommend to "Leonardo B. Pérez Gallardo". He has written about framework legal disabilities. I would like to connect you because I am investigating legal framework for handicapped
Peace be upon you, Islam has been concerned with the issue of disability and taking into account the person with special needs, and important verses have been mentioned in the Holy Qur’an regarding mitigating the patient in matters of worship in prayer and fasting, as well as in the topic of jihad for the sake of God, as well as a lot of remuneration for a Muslim who appoints the patient and his companion Disability, and you can benefit from the research you published on this platform, entitled (From the Hadiths of the Righteous Riddings of Sins) published on this platform and this link: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/338825564_mn_ahadyth_amal_albr_alwardt_fy_tkfyr_aldhnwb_ly_dt_
I am researching a very similar question for my thesis. I would suggest that the social aspect varies a lot by country in the Arab world, but at this point I do not have sufficient studies to point you to, more experiential and anecdotal evidence.
Thank you very much, ا.د. محمد سراج الدين قحطان, Mónica Rocío Mejía Parra, Karen Walker. I was very inspired by the answers to my research. I have researched about disability:

For me, some social ethics recommended in Surah al-Hujurat are applicable to all Human beings especially being dutiful Muslims towards human beings and another fellow Muslims as a huge responsibility and partially as authored tests designed by Allah for us specifically with people with disabilities or we call it special ability (istimewa) as being written by Allah to instrument His Tests through the disability (or other options He Chose). The disabled individuals should be honored to be chosen as that meant are evaluated as resilient enough to undergo such a special situation despite the undesirable stigma/notion from others.
Among the recommended ethics are:
- to feel that all humans are our relatives regardless of any factor
- to always try to fairly mend fractured relationships between two human beings from a grudge
- not to defame/ridicule/demean/degrade/belittle/look down/disgust/contempt/condemn other people - maybe they are better than the ones who feel superior in many ways like being men over women
- not fabricate stories and spread it
- not to accept a statement until being verified as true
- not to label/call somebody by offensive nicknames/ stigmatize/discriminate/traumatize/bully/oppress/ill-treat other people
- to avoid too much assuming especial negative assumptions (suu' al-dzon) as unverified assumptions are invalid (in Islam it is even considered sinful so need to avoid)
- to not ill-speak about/bad-mouth other people
- to get to know people as interesting individuals as a person deep within although from different races, ethnics, tribes, countries or continents because genetically we are related
The Islamic faith (iman - which plainly meant 'belief') is considered not entering the Muslims' hearts as mentioned to the desert bedouin Arab yet until they are transforming into true Muslims by practicing what is required by Islam in daily life as evidence that testifies over doubting about being Muslims who professed to dutifully obey Allah SWT who Divinely Guides to do so.
Refer to Surah al-Hujuraat (Chapter #49) in the Holy Qur'an.
