I'm interested to find out if there are different standards between countries (and states and provinces) for psychologists to provide services for injured workers. Do psychologists have to have additional training or higher qualifications above the basic professional registration requirements in your area?
In New Zealand, the main accidental injury funder ACC requires psychological services for injured people to be delivered by health psychologists or clinical psychologists. No additional training is required.

Are Clinical and Health Psychologists paid at the same rate? Can Counselling Psychologists or Nueropsychologists also provide services?
There are no separate registration categories for counselling or neuropsychologists in NZ. Most neuropsychologists are clinical psychologists. Both clinical and health psychologists are paid at the same rate as far as I am aware. At least within ACC they both get paid the same rates.
I believe, though I can't be certain, that in NZ there are only three maybe four specific scopes of practice: general, clinical, health and forensic. Can't be entirely sure - you could look at the Psychology Board website http://www.psychologistsboard.org.nz/
In New York (and most states) there are not required standards for psychologists treating injured workers other than having a state license (usually this means a doctoral degree in psychology and two years of supervised experience). Psychologist are held to strict ethical standards one of which is that they are not permitted to treat people if they do not have appropriate training to do so. Thus, it is self-policing in that psychologists are expected to only treat people they are trained to handle.

It seems that the situation in your countries us similar to mine in Australia, where we have a 'Rehabilitation Psychology Interest Group' but membership of this group is not mandatory for provision of services to injured workers or workers compensation systems.
Christina, does Rawanda have a similar interest group for Psychologists?
Also, do any of the workers' compensation regulators in NZ, New York, Portugal or Rawanda offer any training to Psychologists who provide services for them?
Assessments in the UK would genrally be done by clinical psychologists or neuropsychologists. These are both titles protected by the British Psychological Society, who set standards of training and supervsion to reach the accepted qualification. Since we have an NHS which is free at the point of delivery, the issue of payment does not arise.
Thanks for the feedback Christine, I understand that UK does not have a formal workers' compensation system that is separate from NHS. Is psychological counselling also provided under NHS?
