I am new to the field of cell embedding in PEGDA hydrogels. Preferably, cells have to be able to penetrate the gel. Also, can the MW influence the diffusion of nutrients and metabolic waste products?
In addition to what John has mentioned, if you are aiming to have cells penetrating PEGDA (I assume you refer to invade the gel), you may have a hard time with PEGDA alone. You may want to look at MMP-modified PEG based gels, such as those developed by Hubbell and Lutolf, which are cross-linked by Michael-type addition. These gels should allow cell invasion in concert with gell degradation.
