I am modelling a bolted connection in double shear. I wanted to verify the experimental plot (force vs displacement represented by black one in fig) by the Abaqus result(blue one in fig) but the plot from the Abaqus is quite below the experimental plot. I used the reference point to apply the constraint, BC & load and to get the plot as well. I tried refining the mesh size to some extent but still the result is same. Can some one suggest what might be the reasons behind the difference?

At the proportional limit there is usually a small peak in stress. However, just my guess, there may not be enough resolution in the measurement to make out the peak. It appears that Abaqus is attempting to model the peak at the proportional limit regardless, and applies a piecewise model which doesn't fit the data. An alternative model or new measurement may be required.
