Ragging is a curse in modern society. Lots of measure had been taken to curb or stop this in past. But still now-a-days, it stays as a problem in educational institutions. We should find a potential way to stop it as soon as possible.
I believe ragging is very dangerous in educational life and institutions. To reduce ragging, educational institutions should ensure anonymity for the complainants. Faculties must have drop boxes where students are encouraged to put in their complaints.
Ragging is an expression to describe student bullying in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, where according to Wikipedia this practice achieves its worst results. However in the United States, just this past week, two university students perished in fraternity hazings. In the U.S., what you call "ragging" and what we call "hazing" takes place under the aegis of the secret societies called fraternities and sororities. Therefore it is fostered by student organizations. If a university in the U.S. punishes or abolishes the offending organization, "hazing" ends. I do not know whether "ragging" originates from student organizations in India. Please educate me on this matter, Shankhadeep.

"Ragging is a problem of the students and by the students; and therefore, the solution to it also lies with the students. With ragging becoming rampant in colleges, it is about time that the the student community awakens its conscience to this inhuman practice before more and more innocent students become victims of it and before more and more educational institutes are degraded by it."
Dear @Shankhadeep, I was not aware of massive ragging in India. Here is the document Anti Ragging Regulatory Measures.. with Measures for prevention of Ragging,Measures for prohibition of Ragging and Anti Ragging Survey...!
My Dear Chakranorty ji, I am totally I'm agreement of @ Mahfuz, and Lajubomir. We all know it is a curse on our society and trying all the possible ways to curb it. But all are failing. This evil is continuing. In my opinion we all have to take it by heart and inculcate anti ragging DNA on our wards and must be started from begning in childhood. Thanks.
I am not sure of the size effect of ragging in education in my country Jordan. If there is such a problem then we need to fight it together in a systematic manner.
Ragging, Bullying etc are indecent approaches to accost. These barbaric acts of introductions may have a lasting impact and at time go beyond control and weird.
Formal Introductions through Singing and dancing etc within bounds are enough to make a bond between Seniors-Juniors etc.,
Nowadays, Alumni associations take cake of these fraternity bonding with elegance and ease.
Ragging is the creation of the seniors and has affected many. Creation of the anti-ragging squad in the institutions is one of the solutions to this curse. Punishment is not the solution prevention is.
