Due to solid waste dumping yard, how many possibilities are there to affect the groundwater table to its nearby area. Why do we test the water pollution to the surrounding area due to dump yard?
There is high possibilities for contamination of leachate at ground water table because of solid waste on dumping ground. generally in developing countries have no proper segregation system so waste thus it contains both bio and non bio degradable waste, in which all kinds wastes generally present among them E wastes more dangerous as because it heavy metal contamination possible in ground water by leachate. solid wastes contained different kind of materials in which many are toxic substance and these substance easily can mix with ground water.many such cases recorded in our country having ground water contamination by leachate for solid waste dumping unscientifically. thus there should improved site suitability model for dumping ground as per international stranded.
In developing countries, all the electronic waste is dumped alone with MSW. Leachate produced from such dumpsites has very high concentration of heavy metals which can contaminate both surface water bodies and ground water table.
In addition, MSW consists of very high percentage of food waste, which emits nitrate and phosphate compounds during degradation. These chemical compounds are the major cause for eutrophication of water bodies in surrounding area.
Thanks to all, How to test the presence of the contaminants like the metals, nitrate, phosphate, etc., in dump yard.I'm new to the sample collection and testing, can any one help me to know how to collect the sample, test, and doing further analysis with this.
Attached is our state's sample protocol for sampling groundwater. It requires monitoring wells at the periphery to sample.
You'll need to go through each section to understand what is required to get valid data.
Selecting the parameters you want to sample for depends on what the local concerns are. There's other literature out there for the constituents of Leachate (water that leaches contaminants from waste).
