You can go with transient analysis with FLUENT, will give good results.

Coming to your second question, always hex gives better results as it would be along the flow directions,also fluxes are better represented... an additional benefit being reduced mesh count.

For constant boundary conditions in a geometry like this, there is no need to use FEM. You can solve it in an analytical way, using for example Laplace transform, since it is a one-dimensional problem (supposed cylinder infinitely long). How is your initial condition?

Fernando, you are absolutely right! In fact I need to solve this simple  problem in WORKBENCH ANSYS  just to see to what extent ansys  matches  the analytical  solution to use it next time with more complicated problems. So this is why I'm asking whether we can use the FLUENT solver or  the THERMAL TRANSIENT solver. The initial condition is just a constant temperature  at time =0.

I'm sorry, I didn't knew the purpose. I do not know many about FLUENT or Thermal Transient.

Also, anyone can direct me to get the analytical solution of 1-D transient heat conduction problem of a hollow composite cylinder, please? In fact, I got one but I have struggled to get the results correctly in MATLAB cause it has an integration with INFINITE value  as  upper limit  of integration and it has terms of Bessel function.
