You can use light microscope such as Inverted phase contrast microscope (Olympus IX-73) and also Confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM). Similar research have been done with these microscope. Please check this link, it may help you.

we have an inverted Microscope which is transmitted light brightfield and Incident fluorescence light (AFL). I want to know is it suitable for ELM?Or should we provide a phase contrast microscope?

Light microscope with bright field mode may not suitable for investigation of stability of the Emulsion Liquid Membrane. But the microscope using fluorescence lamp with 10–100× magnification, you can easily investigate ELM. I mentioned the light microscope such as Inverted phase contrast microscope (Olympus IX-73), because it have various mode (Bright field, Phase contrast, Differential Interference Contrast (DIC) and Fluorescence (FL) Microscopy) and you can use Fluorescence (FL) Microscopy for your study.

In case of difference between phase contrast and bright filed microscope, Phase contrast microscopy is suitable for viewing colorless and transparent specimens and live cells. On the other hand, Bright filed microscope is used to observe color and brightness information from a stained specimen. The entire field of view is illuminated and appears bright.
