Dear Dr Ajit I agree with most of answers and according to my experience internet has potential role of promoting sustainable and equitable development in Third World countries and for educational improvement it is vital!
I think internet has come to save and help peoples specifically student out with their projects and other academic works. It has really made life and education very comfortable and simple.
The question is not a simple one. In some ways, many people have greater access to information and the ability to generate narratives about their own lives. On the other hand, many people are excluded from this. And too much information and misinformation can lead to all sorts of problems. Just a few thoughts.
@Deidre-I think u r talking about digital divide.Just think of few years back, scientists from developing countries had hardly any access to scientific literature but with Internet,it has become easy for them.I agree access may not be same for all. Now things are changing fast.Let us hope for the best. Thanks for input.
Although there are both advantages and disadvantages of internet, it is generally good for society. Information availability helps us making good decisions.
Internet has totally changed the scenario of present time. The information about anything can be easily accessible. If someone is devoted to get useful information than internet is a wonderful tool. But I noticed that few students always waste their time on irrelevant sites.
Overall the use of internet is good for the society.
Informatization turned industrial capitalism into information capitalism; this process started in the late1970s, with industrial firms using e-mail systems to transfer production data around the globe. Concerning scientific research and communication, the internet is a great leap forward, in terms of productive forces. Concerning the societal fabric and human relations, I am very sceptical. When I am travelling in public trains, I can see a mass of people connected to their electronic devices, without even noticing the physical persons on their side. To sum it up: the virtuality and anonymity of internet use will have deep negative side effects in social life, besides the mentioned benefits. The coming exponentiality will intensify this trend in human alienation.
Everything in our lives is positive and negative, so the Internet has become essential in our lives, because it is a spread of culture and knowledge and we learn the experience of the arts of life.
All the things that we used it in our life have advantiges and disadvantiges and the issue related to the human who can increase the advantiges and decrease the disadvantiges , Internet is one the important things in our recent life and we can use the useful things in it and discard the other bad things if we like ,,, Best regards ,,Jawad Ali
Easier circulation of information, although some of a dubious nature; effective diffusion of globalisation; but early days-we do not really know exactly the actual benevolent affects.
Internet is certainly good for society. However, it has its setbacks as well. A lot of criminals also use the internet to accomplish their bad deeds such as stealing money, stalking people. Internet can also be disruptive when one becomes addicted to it
Of course INTERNET is one of the greatest creations that helps us in providing speedy information, knowledge, connectivity, communication and sharing. In fact it has brought revolutionary change in the society. It is INTERNET that enables ResearchGate members to stay connected for sharing information, knowledge and publications.
The Internet is of great advantage to the society at large. It creates a wealth of knowledge and resources from where individual can tap. Of course there are no doubt that some other people are making use of the same in a negative way, but in all, the advantages surpass the disadvantages
Every thing on the Earth has advantages and disadvantages including the Internet facility, anyway, I find internet very useful and facilitates our daily life.
I support any kind of cultural, scientific and social communication that eliminates distances and boundaries. Of course, everything has its own advantages and disadvantages, A user returns to the Internet to estimate the damage
Internet has given meaning to everyone’s life and our youth have not left a stone unturned to capitalize on it,also learning and sharing of knowledge has become so easy only because of internet.
The internet is very necessary for society, but at the same time it represents a double-edged sword. The right use of it enables us to obtain any information we want to know. It also represents the best and easiest means of social communication among family members. Through the Internet the world has turned into a small village.
Really excellent points u have mentioned both positive and negative sides along with parental care for Internet usage. Now it is up to users to choose the path.thanks for valuable answer.
I agree with Dr Stephen and Dr Mahesh Kumar, in any issue some positive and negative points are there. There are some set people who are always misusing the system. But as a whole it is an wonderful system help to enriching our knowledge.
No doubt internet has brought in many benefits to the society. Be it the field of academics, industry or social networking, internet has been a real boon. However, some negative facts are also associated with internet which the society should be aware of. Continuous and increasing incidents of online account hacking, pornography, clashes over petty issues on social media are some of the pathetic aspects of internet but still the positive side is brighter in my view.
What is your view on 'Internet is Good for Society'?
It depends on who is using it & how we are using it. Internet is just another example of tool like knife - whether we are using it to prepare dishes or using it to rob someone. Likewise for Internet - a researcher can use it for literature review or a terrorist can use the same Internet to access websites how to make bomb.
internet is really good for the society. This days one can learn every thing from the internet. Right from complex mathematics to basic life activities like how to sleep, laugh, drink water, exercise etc. Some people even had their life partners from the internet others had their academic mentors from the internet. The list can go on and on and on

Particularly since much of research is published in journals that require payment to access the research article, the internet needs to be regarded as "much more opinion" than anyone would truly want to go through in securing an answer to a scientific question. Direction to an approach, maybe; knowledge, no.
Internet is helping researchers in advancement of knowledge at a faster rate vis a vis earlier period when there was no internet. Lot of concise information is available in advance even before it is published. It has revolutionised transactions and communication of information in real time. It has helped in streamlining the processes , make them efficient and responsive and optimise the cost of operation. Internet has revolutionised interactions in the society. Research Gate is an example of facilitating iteraction amongst researchers and helping in advancement of new knowledge.
Really it is worth noting that 'Internet has revolutionised transactions and communication of information in real time'Thanks for excellent visinary views dr Ashok.
OVerall, I say it is good for society from various perspecives -- communication, shopping, education, and such. However, it does have some downfalls.. such as humans becoming less sociable, and, perhaps, a little more impatient since most information and resources gained through the Internet happen quickly...
According to a recent study' Teens, Social Media & Technology 2018'
YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat are the most popular online platforms among teens. Fully 95% of teens have access to a smartphone, and 45% say they are online 'almost constantly'
Until recently, Facebook had dominated the social media landscape among America’s youth – but it is no longer the most popular online platform among teens, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.
Internet has made life easier whether its education, communication or any walk of life. We have access to all kind of information and distances have been reduced.
