Common reasons for rejecting a paper are that it (a) does not meet the professed aims and scope of the journal; (b) fails the initial technical screening; (c) demonstrates defective procedures and/or analysis of data; (d) cannot justify the conclusions that are reached; and, more stringently, (e) does not advance the field. (Sad to say, some papers are also just plain boring.)

Olivier: I have always enjoyed your writings. I have and entire section of my document area reserved for your papers. However, here is my take on journals ... they have little to do with adding anything radically new or practical. They are constrained by their own self-imposed limitations. History has shown us that the writings that have changed the world, as well as the scientific inventions that have done likewise, have not arisen from journals nor were they been based on rigorous methodologies or statistical analyses. The ideas and inventions that have changed the world were based on free thinking beyond the strictures of the dominant paradigms. Having said all of that, journals are useful when seeking tenure ... :-). Keep up your good work.

Thinking about papers rejection :

1. Paper should be of scientific importance

2. Paper should be written in good English with out spelling mistakes

3. Data must be sufficient without ambiguity

4. Figures, Table be drawn suitably

5. Result must be reproducible & Critically analysed

6.Results be critically analyzed

7. Reference should be relevant

If above pints are violated then here is chance for rejection.

Most of the points already came but I would like to add one point here and it is about reference, It should be very latest and from the top tier journals.
