Powerful, unfortunate emotional entrainment that needs Mindfulness of attending and courageous open-mindedness to creatively face the experiences of one's fears and anxieties in Compassionate frames!
I tend to believe that everything we do is based on either love or fear. I've studied Buddhist philosophy for 50+ years and Yoda's comments are certainly reflect the idea that our mental state determines our experience. Practicing compassion, patience, kindness (and so on - the "love" choices) lead to happiness, regardless of circumstance. The best book on that idea is Viktor Frankel's "Man's Search for Meaning". Practicing anger, hatred, oppression (and so on - the "fear" choices) lead to suffering. Thich Nhat Hanh, "Anger" is a good read on the Buddhist perspective on how anger reflects and creates suffering.
Rodrigo said that he hates injustice, but my guess is that's born out of his love for justice and that drives his desire to see injustice ended. When we have something that we are hate or are angry about, we can reflect on what is it that I love that feels threatened? What am I protecting from harm? It's not so much a linear concept as a matter of creating neural, behavioral and cognitive pathways that do contribute to how we experience the world.
So, at least I can say that Yoda reflects Buddhist thought in his comments.
Fear makes the anger it,s ememy because of the fact that you would say that. For example, if you are fear of anything, you would try to demolish that thing animate or inanimate. So, if you wouldn't demolish that thing having less power then you should start hating that. In hate, people often suffer from depression and anxiety. So, ultimately people suffer at the last stage of fear! Suffering!
The claim is redundant since "leads to" is a transitive relation. Yoda could've just said "Fear leads to suffering". However, put in that direct way, the claim is less persuasive, and indeed, as a generalization, is false. Fear is an evolved response that can sometimes prevent suffering by motivating us to avoid certain dangers.
It might be the fact that sometimes fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering. We should control our fear, anger and hate to reduce suffering.
Fear ultimately breeds anger out of the innate human instinct for self-defense. When someone feels threatened, they may initially fear regarding the possible validity of the issued threat and subsequent harm which could follow. However, in many scenarios, anger may follow or even override fear.
The effects of negativity on the human pschye has been known for thousands of years (Budda, Hillel, Jesus) but even that is conditioned by normalcy tropes. Negativity is damaging when no action results or can be taken. That action may itself be harmful or turned into positive values.
