Digital currency or digital money is an Internet-based medium of exchange distinct from physical (such as banknotes and coins) that exhibits properties similar to physical currencies, but allows for instantaneous transactions and borderless transfer-of-ownership.

Ecuador is the first country in the world which has introduced the national digital currency. Sweden is also going to cash-free currency. Indirectly, we are also using the digital currency in various forms like online marketing/shopping etc. Our salaries, fellowships, stipend are directly coming to our respective bank account which are in the form of digital currency.

Replacing the physical currency with the digital currency may be good to prevent various level of corruptions related to money transfer. Black Money may be identified very easily if the whole world can opt this new currency.

I would like to have a detailed discussion about the applications of Digital Currency on ResearchGate among the researchers.

Why should a nation replace its present currency with the digital currency? Is it good or bad to opt the digital currency? What are its advantages and disadvantages?
