What motivates you to do science now, and do you feel it has changed over the years?
Do you feel more or less motivated overall? Why?
As a young researcher, I am very curious, idealistic, and my goal is to benefit the society. However, I recognize that the type of challenges that scientists face evolve as they progress in their careers. Also, our personal lives also change and bring in new variables to consider.

I do research that I hope will benefit the people envolved, benefit society and further develop myself. I have been doing research for many years and it is more important that my research is relevant, is meaningfull and benefit society than ever before. I will not do research I do not believe in. I have become more focused that my research is communicated in a way that as many as possible understand. This both helps my research and makes my work more relevant. Vincent Blay

My motivation for research to explore phenomenon with more humanistic approach, to refine existing knowledge, to add to knowledge base...
Population growth is increasing day to day at the same time we want to supply basic needs to whole population. Through research only we could achieve that target. I'm doing research related with food production then definitely I can help the people to get enough food.
To study a phenomenon that addresses a problem that may be exposed to a large and important segment and come up with important recommendations and increase knowledge and exploration and develop myself.
No matter you are a School or undergrad or grad student or postdoc or prof or scientist...every one intensity is same do research for the mankind.
I love chemistry, that drives me every day to think and have fun with science.
Science is fun...we can enjoy that excitement!...
I like exploring my brains’ ability and flexibility, on top of that other peoples’ positive feedbacks motivate me to do so. But the first motivation resourse comes from my mind. If I do research, it is because of my deep cruosity to do it. I can call myself as a research-addicted person. My only remedy is again research.

My main motivation to do research is to look for the unknown in my area of expertise and hence advance knowledge. By so doing, I feed, say, my intritinsic intellectual curiosity.
While doing research, I love to raise, say, "irritaing" questions, that is, questions that go against the mainstream and the satus quo and whose answer leads us to a better knowledge of the unknown.
With my research, I also intend to benefit the society at large. I do think that when is not misapplied, science and research are one of the best friends of humankind.
Science has progressed a lot in almost any scientific domain. We are stiil away, for example, from having a complete knowledge of the brain, but we know much more about it than it was the case a couple of years ago. As I see it, scientific progress will never end because the more we know, the more we become aware that there will always be a unkown to be known, found, and the like. To be a researcher is one of the noblest professions in the world.

Basically, to find out something existence is research. Research gives me pleasure because it help society and most prominently myself. i strongly believe, research is relevant for brain storming to study the known and unknown area and to develop the definite sector.

Our state comes under Biodiversity Hotspot region, and provides a lot of scope for carrying out intensive research work on its biodiversity, motivate to conduct explorations of medicinal plants, aromatic herbs, orchids, wild lilies, wild zingers etc.
Trying to solve the problems facing the society and get results to help solve them as well as increasing knowledge in the specialist is the most important reasons behind it.
