I believe that safety and comfort in the lab are fundamental for scientific research. Thus, I would love to hear, based on your experience, what would you have or change in your lab to make it a better place.
Also, I am curious if you have witnessed any accident occuring in a lab, what would measures would prevent it from happening again.

I agree with @Marwan Khaleel Yousif and make sure the rules are intact.
Timely communication of research findings to relevant authorities in the area through conference presentations and research article publications. Provision of state-of-the-art equipment for analysis and safety management, and/or instituting a workable timetable for staff-training and re-training for development and satisfaction. Exposing laboratory staff to cutting-edge researches through collaboration with other laboratories and/or attracting research grants and/or right personnel that support such researches. Generally, keeping the laboratory vibrant and scientifically useful.

I have observed accidents in labs. I feel, it is mandatory to have an induction program for every person who uses the particular lab. Though it sounds tedious, I modestly feel, it is the only option to avoid mishaps.
