A common carp (Cyprinus carpio) fish with unknown age was presented with a hole in operculum (left side) to our lab. With visual observation, we did not find any parasites as well as any morphological damage on gill. It feeds and swims normally.

I'd like to share this observation to find the aetiology of this hole.

What is your diagnosis? Are there any genetically or nutritionally predisposing factors? What is your idea about the possibility of infectious agent(s)?

For more details I have attached an image.
