Annual herb, ca. 30 cm tall, stem white, shiny and glabrous. Leaves are distantly pinnatisect with 4 pairs of linear lobes or leafletts that are toothed at the margin and acute.

Capitula have 5-6-seriate involucre, phyllaries are scarious with glands on outer surface.

Single flower present in middle of capitula

Cypselas Solitary, oblong, c. 5 mm long, without ribs, entirely covered with white hairs, carpopodium circular, blackened at the base.

Pappus dark brown to blackish brown, persistent, silky, 5-seriate, outer 1 - 4 series silky, innermost plumose.
