Hello Everyone,

I have a question related to the voltage rating.

what exactly that means that the cable has a voltage rating of 500V?

Is it like this, that the maximum voltage that can pass through this cable is 500V? for example, if I connect this cable with the power supply then from the power supply I can go maximum upto 500V?

Or it is related to the thickness of the insulating material of the cable? I have read online that it is related to the insulation of the cable. i.e. if the cable has a voltage rating of 500V then it means that its insulation can work upto 500V. And if we go more than 500V then, if the wire is touching some metal, then that metal will also get voltage from the cable.

Can someone please clarify the doubts.

Thank you

Raza
