I am trying to understand the origin of replication "ori" of a plasmid and its uses in mammalian cells.

Does the ori used to make copies of the plasmid in mammalian cells? or you will get what you put in the cells. If it get used to make copies then in this case the plasmid will be expressed in the cells forever using the ori right? Here I am talking about the plasmid without its integration into the host's genome.

What about the role of copy number? what makes the plasmid stop being copied?

Another question is about the PUC ori. Is it functional in mammalian cells like CHO cells?

please I need help with these questions because I couldn't find any explanation.

Also, If anyone has a list of Eukaryotes Oris vs. Prokaryotes ones don't hesitate to share.

Thank you so much in advanced.
