I think that RG members may participate in such an endeavor by creating awareness through their publications on the topic and their interaction to discuss subjects in the many threads created.

RG members may support this mission by doing outstanding research, communicating effectively these researches among RG members, getting enriched by cultural variations, and creating motivation to interact more and effectively to maintain continuity.

Make the world small and approachable!

Cultural heritage is the legacy inherited from past generations, maintained now by us all, and bestowed for the benefit of future generations. This heritage 'includes tangible culture (such as buildings, monuments, landscapes, books, works of art, and artifacts), intangible culture (such as folklore, traditions, language, and knowledge), and natural heritage (including culturally significant landscapes, and biodiversity).'

On RG our role is discussing and researching and learning MUCH MORE about the cultural heritage of our online friends.  This knowledge brings pleasure.

Research Gate members have a mission to maintain natural and cultural heritage. They may do it by publications, different threads/discussions, initiating the petitions for... There are many fine threads with many photos of natural and cultural heritage that contribute to the preservation of heritage, both national and world heritage!

We should raise our voices against doings like ISIS done! ISIS is trying to erase world history, as stated by UNESCO head!

Dear friends, being a Biology teacher,I'm concerned about our biodiversity.  Our country has to maintain the cities and other places that are UNESCO heritage sites.

To know Malaysia is to love Malaysia. As RG member, allow me to invite you to my country, Tiger Woods has been here, so have the Formula 1 drivers and crews.   (AND WE HAVE REAL TIGERS IN OUR FORESTS AND ZOOS.)  

'Kinabalu National Park is Malaysia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO in December 2000. A UNESCO World Heritage Site is a place that is listed by UNESCO as of special cultural or physical significance and its designation is highly prestigious affair.  Other places in Malaysia which are listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site are Gunung Mulu National Park, Sarawak and Melaka and George Town (Historic Cities). In Gunung Mulu National Park, there are Sarawak Chamber (largest underground chamber/room in the world, which is BIG enough to accommodate about 40 Boeing 747s, without overlapping their wings), Deer Cave (second largest single cave passage in the world) and Clearwater Cave (world's largest cave by volume). In fact, Gunung Mulu National Park meets the most World Heritage criteria.'

In thinking about your question I would caution against romanticizing the idea of a pure cultural or natural heritage. While I feel this issue is important we must be as "objective" as possible ( I for one realizing that a pure objectivity is an impossibility).

I would also ask that we clearly define what a "natural heritage" is. This is important for several reasons the first being establishing a clear line (if possible) between what is a social development, a social construction (culture), and a biologically or natural based heritage if such an thing existences.  

If RG is to continue being a science based forum then we must report, publish, communicate, and examine issues both good and not-so-good in our past behaviors/actions and our philosophies/beliefs namely our cultural heritage. 

If as I believe and many other RG members do (based on their postings) humanity has a long way to go in our beliefs and actions toward "others" we as leaders in our communities, academics, states, and nations states must be out-front in demonstrating not only the importance of our "great achievements" but also what we have learned from our "great failures" in all aspects of life. I believe it is also important to remain critical of our present and clearly articulate a path toward a unified peaceful, plentiful, and loving global human culture or natural heritage.
