What is the significance of size dependent dielectric screening in optimizing excitonic properties?

Mott-Wannier excitons are formed in a semiconductor material as a result of light-matter interactions. However, their delocalizing properties inside the crystal induce screening effects in their dynamics.

Among the screening functions, how the size dependent screening serves in predicting excitonic properties.
