Hello RG friends,

I have stained the pathogen infected plant leaves with DAB staining solution for confirming the H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) accumulation. Successfully I got the expected result. Even though, I have some doubts regarding the stain preparation and appearance of brown colored precipitate (that is polymer formed as a result of the oxidation of DAB by H2O2).

Here the DAB staining solution was prepared with 200mM Disodium hydrogen phosphate. But still I am confused with the role of Na2HPO4 in the action of DAB stain and after the treatment of leaves with the DAB staining solution, the DAB react with the H2O2 and in turn oxidized by H2O2 to form a brown precipitate. Here, which chemical compound has been formed while the DAB was oxidized?
