Widely used method of extracting soil potassium (K ) is 1M NH4OAc extraction. But reports are available that K recommendation with this extraction methods does not work i.e., crops do not respond positively or farmers do not get benefit from K fertilization following this method. Moreover, exchangeable K extracted with this method does not change even after a long term crop cultivation. In saline soil, 1N NH4OAc extractable K is high which indicated no need of K fertilization. But reality is that K application in saline soil have positive response of crop yield and growth.  In this regards what method(s) will be the most reliable method for assessing K fertility status of soil?
