During production of biochar or during pyrolysis its an obvious process of formation of syngas. One of the component of syngas is CO. One can quantify CO production amount via GC-MS. However pyrolysis or biochar making process is considered as recycle, reuse process. So, its always advisable to use the syngas for energy production, which may at least reduce the risk of hazardous gas production.
Thank you all for answering my question. I will be in Panama this year as a Fulbrighter and want to engage my new students of agriculture in biochar making at the farm of the University where I am hosted for this fall and spring semesters.
Is there a simple to build/make system that I could construct in order to produce also some electricity to harness the syngas being produced? Thanks!
