Unfortunately, I do not know the particular papers on the topic, but it is obvious, that sexual reproduction (for any fungi propagating this way) will lead to genetic recombination, and thus emergence of new variants of any fungal traits or abilities for the best adoption to its habitat, decomposing included. So it can be presumed, that decomposition and reproduction are related, but it is not easy to reveal the direct relationship.
