Notably, the role of forests in helping societies adapt to climate change has turned into a very important issue in almost all international meetings to prevent climate change. The main reason is that forest ecosystems play a central role in the global biochemical cycles by acting as a vital agent in mitigating greenhouse gases (GHG). It is generally a known fact today that desertification can be prevented by forests and other forms of wooded land. Accordingly, concerned organizations like FAO are working with afflicted countries to tackle climate change through sustainable forest management. Managing forests for climate change has no doubt an important part in in climate change mitigation and adaptation by developing practical measures to guide effective climate change mitigation through such activities as forest management, carbon-trading markets, and bio- based renewable energy plans.

Though the composition of forest varies in the level of carbon sequestration, the existence of forest contributes positively towards climate change. Of course the presence of forest contributes for climate change, countries with low forest may not necessarily affected with climate change this is because it depends on geoecological conditions and situations (as some may not be affected with the contribution of others). In general, it is good to think to have forests for every thing (forest is basic for life in general)

Forests influence climate change largely by affecting the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. When forests grow, carbon is removed from the atmosphere and absorbed in wood, leaves and soil.

Yeah , I agree with aforementioned statements. Of course forest can reduce the consequences of climate change of a particular geographical regions.

As we know that loss of forest will cause the increase in Land Surface Temperature (LST) which is sufficient to influence the local as well as global climate.

Having less forest in a particular region may get affected but it will depend upon the others parameters also I.e. Transportation status, industries and other infrastructure.

As more scientific information about global warming accumulates, climate change is emerging as perhaps the greatest environmental challenge of the twenty-first century. What is more, a virtual Pandora's box of major global threats, such as hunger, poverty, population growth, armed conflict, displacement, air pollution, soil degradation, desertification and deforestation are intricately intertwined with and all contribute to climate change, necessitating a comprehensive approach to a solution. Rising to this challenge will entail unprecedented cooperation among the world's nations and strong support from international organizations concerned. FAO is particularly implicated, as its domain encompasses major sources of greenhouse gases, major potential victims of climate change, and major mitigation potentials though carbon pools and "sinks".

Forests are essential for the absorption and storage of carbon dioxide, which plays a key role in mitigating climate change. It is also clear that the destruction or exploitation of forests beyond their natural capacity can make them a continuing source of greenhouse gas emissions, ie, carbon dioxide.

Scientists estimate that forest loss and other changes to the use of land account for around 23% of current man-made CO2 emissions – which equates to 17% of the 100-year warming impact of all current greenhouse-gas emissions. As children are taught at school, trees and other plants absorb CO2 from the air as they grow

Forests are a stabilising force for the climate. They regulate ecosystems, protect biodiversity, play an integral part in the carbon cycle, support livelihoods, and supply goods and services that can drive sustainable growth.

The relationship is reversible through logging and deforestation which affects climate change as in my cutting trees and turning orchards into residential homes

Forests are called "banks of carbon," and the trees themselves and the soil of the forests store a large amount of carbon.

Furthermore, considering the role of alleviating the regional weather carried by forests, it is also pointed out that the large-scale destruction of forests could lead to global climate change such as changes in air flow and rainfall.

The IPCC's second report mentions the following three ways to handle forests that suppress the increase in carbon dioxide concentration.

①Conservation: Control carbon loss by controlling deforestation, protecting forests, etc.

②Storage : Increase the area and accumulation of natural and planted forests, and promote their use in durable wood products.

③Alternative : Convert fossil fuel-based energy to forest biomass energy, or use wood instead of products that consume a large amount of energy during manufacturing and processing.
