I have read my articles in which researchers do very long time stirring up to 12 hours stirring. So I want to know what is physics or chemistry behind such long time stirring? Also I have seen many people aged their samples. So what is the physics or chemistry behind it?
I think your question is much too simple to be answered. You need to give the materials that are stirred or aged because these determines the processing (stirring, aging etc.).
I will point out two examples from our labs working with fuel cells.
a) Preparation of a catalyst solution. Stirring the sample may be one option to achieve a homogeneous solution (ultrasonic treatment would be another). Such processes can last from a few minutes up to 48 or more hours.
b) Aging of membrane electrode assemblies (the heart of a fuel cell). We investigate the degradation of all components by rapid aging, we call it applying accelerated stress tests. We are talking about durabilities of 40.000 hours and more. Nobody will operate a system in a lab (although it should be done) to investigate degradation for such long time periods. So we try to reduce the time required for investigating effects that we expect after much longer operational hours.
I did not even mention all physical, chemical and electrochemical parameters that can and will be determined in our measurements. But all this data allows us to obtain a better insight into the processes that lead to degradation. It is our driving force to understand the underlying physical, chemical and electrochemical processes.
